Media Artists is a group of people belonging to different media who have come together on a common platform with an avowed aim to fill in a creative space usurped by people engaged in frivolous pursuits.
Dedicated to the issues of environment, gender equality, alternate thinking and holistic education, theatre has been a thrust area for Media Artists.
Various plays staged by Media Artists include Punjabi adaptations of 'Waiting for Godot', 'Caucasian Chalk Circle', 'Macbeth' and many other original plays like 'Shagoofey', 'Jooth', 'Tain Ki Dard Na Aaya', 'Nadian Nu Taap Chare' etc.
Media Artists has been organizing Environment awareness programmes besides plays and music specially designed for functions on ‘World Environment Day’ and ‘World Earth Day’ and street play shows.
Artists associated with Media Artists have been conducting workshops, mainly with children, in different schools and colleges inculcating appreciation of fine arts and performing arts.
The biggest show of the famous Pakistani play Bullah by Madeeha Gauhar was also hosted by Media Artists in Ludhiana.
Media Artists hosted renowned Bharatnatyam exponent Navtej Johar who did shows of his dance-drama Fanaa: Ranjha Revisted in Amritsar and Ludhiana. Sufiana with renowned musicologist Dr Madan Gopal Singh brought an entirely new musical experience to Ludhiana.
Besides satiating creative urges of people through quality theatre and music, we intend to promote a dialogue on serious alternate thinking. Also, we have an avowed aim to provide a platform to people working in the field independently. We intend to provide each a platform to pursue his or her chosen medium in an organized and professional way to be more effective and with more reach.
With members all over the state and abroad, Media Artists interacts with people through various media so that it may help in effective communication and facilitate identification and participation.
Media Artists organized a programme on Technical Advances in Punjabi Language, Literature and Culture and exhibition of paintings by Swaranjit Savi.
Media Artists has been organizing lecture series inviting thought leaders to promote dialogue on the key concerns of present age. The speakers included Dr. Vandana Shiva and Harsh Mander. Media Artists also hosted Shabnam Hashmi with her troupe of children from Delhi in their campaign during last parliamentary elections.
